Travel to Rome - Of all the
places in the world you could possibly manage
to see, there are some that you can’t
afford not to. Rome is one of those special
destinations
that tugs at your heart, teaches you about
history and inspires you in many ways.
When planning to travel to Rome, you may anticipate
certain things about the Italian capital, only
to find when you arrive, that it is everything
you imagined and more. It may be more crowded
and frantic than you’d hoped, but you’ll
soon gather momentum and keep up with the pace.
It may even appear more ancient than you had
expected, but you will overlook the crumbling
masonry and
embrace the awareness that hands constructed
it thousands of years ago.
The coffee may be stronger, the locals may be
too busy to notice you and the hustle and
bustle of buses and taxis may be a starker contrast
to the historical artefacts that exist everywhere
you look than you ever would have thought,
but
if you travel to Rome, you’re sure
to be overwhelmingly fascinated by all that
you see
and do.
Like every good mother, La Roma offers something
for everyone. If food is your greatest temptation,
you will travel to Rome to sample the continental
delights and world-renowned cuisine that
has evolved over three thousand years of history.
Pizza here is unlike anything delivered in
cardboard
boxes back home. The gelati is to die for;
even before you taste any, it’s a veritable
feast for the eyes with rows of multicoloured
tubs of refreshing treats lined up.
While in Rome, do as the Romans do and find
a place serving up Stracciatella Alla Romana,
a clear chicken broth with egg swirled through
it. Talk about chicken soup for the traveller’s
soul; this is it in spades!
If history is your compulsion, you won’t
be disappointed if you travel to Rome. In
fact, you can pretty much walk around a real
life history
book just by leaving your hotel room. Look
up and you see cathedral spires constructed centuries
ago; look down and you realize you are treading
upon the very cobblestones upon which scores
of generations of Romans have walked. Look
all
around you and you can point in any direction
and recognize that many of the structures
are ancient and every building and tree has a
story
to tell.
Fashion is another drawcard that entices people
to travel to
Rome. Even though most of the
famous designers’ shows are closed to the general
public, there are many satellite events that
take place in synchronicity with the big affairs.
But even to sit on a stoop and watch the passing
parade, you will witness a fashion parade of
a more spontaneous kind as women go by with their
immaculately grooming and impeccable taste and
men stride past, clad in Europe’s finest
streetwear.
Whatever your passion, be it art, cuisine, religion,
history or music, Italy is the place to stoke
its embers. In particular, travel to Rome and
find a heart beating with fervour in response
to the people who live there or make their way
there to discover new possibilities and indulge
old obsessions.
